Millions of passengers safely and securely ride high-speed trains every day across Europe and Asia. They have proved to be the safest and most reliable mass transportation option in the world today, which is why it is the perfect system to bring to Texas.

This train will connect North Texas, the Brazos Valley and Houston in less than 90 minutes utilizing Japan’s proven Shinkansen High-Speed Train System, which has a 50+ year history in Japan of no crashes, fatalities or injuries due to train accidents. This technology reliably moves more than 400,000 passengers every day with an average annual “delay” of less than one minute.

The system will feature three state-of-the-art passenger train stations, in Houston, Dallas and the Brazos Valley, which will enhance not only the rider’s experience, but allow for the latest in safety technology to be included as well. Safety is at the heart at every decision this project considers, which is why no other freight or passenger trains will travel on the same tracks.

FLAWLESS SAFETY RECORD

The Project will utilize the safest technology in the world, with a proven track record of moving BILLIONS of people for 50+ years without a single fatality during operation.

The train will be “grade separated,” which means it will cross over or under all public roads. There will be no cars waiting for trains to pass and no risk of trains interacting with cars. Therefore, there will be no crossing arms, no whistles and no loud horn – a very quiet experience for everyone.

The Texas high-speed train will be completely new construction and ‘purpose built infrastructure’ specifically designed for the Shinkansen. There will be no other trains operating on the system and trains will only operate in one direction on each track, either northbound or southbound.

This train is being designed with safety at the heart of every decision. There is a CULTURE of safety as we build and operate this system.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE

This project will work closely with the communities along the route, and be a ‘good neighbor’ in every sense of the word. Working closely with law enforcement and emergency responders, the project will help train first responders all along the 240-mile route and familiarize emergency responders with all aspects of the train operation. Texas Central will identify any resource and coordination gaps that may need to be filled, including a need for high quality communications, staging areas, emergency response equipment, and other areas where emergency response needs dictate.

Texas Central looks forward to working with all counties along the route to fully equip and train their first responders to meet the needs of the railroad’s Emergency Preparedness Plan. The additional equipment and training provided by Texas Central will be available to serve residents and communities along the route every day of the year, around the clock.

SECURITY

Industry experts with extensive experience in transportation security are working on comprehensive security plans to ensure the safety of the railroad, its passengers, and employees. The Project’s security team have an ongoing dialogue with the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration to discuss and implement security plans. Of course, the system will follow all safety and security standards set by the Department of Transportation and Department of Homeland Security, as well as working with the Texas Department of Public Safety and local law enforcement to meet other applicable regulations.

Today, passenger train security requirements do not necessitate the intrusive experience passengers undergo while flying. There will be security elements that are both visible and unseen by the public. As security technology evolves, the railroad will deploy processes and procedures that meet or exceed regulations and allow passengers peace of mind while traveling. The good news is that will get to keep your shoes on.
